Volunteers: Fairborn's Citizen's Patrol

The Fairborn Citizen's Patrol (F.C.P.) was established in 2005. The F.C.P. is made up of a a group of citizen volunteers who have dedicated their time to assist the Fairborn Police Department and the community in which they live.
Members of the F.C.P. must be graduates of the Citizen's Police Academy. After successfully completing the academy, those that are interested in becoming members of the F.C.P. are given additional instruction in police procedures. These additional four weeks of classes are taught at the Fairborn Police Department in three hour sessions. Upon successful completion of the course, members are issued their uniforms and equipment. Members of the Fairborn Citizen's Patrol are not armed and do not have arrest powers.
Duties - Members are requested to spend an average of 16 hours per month doing various duties within the department. Members of the F.C.P. perform many duties which include:
- vacation house checks
- park patrols
- assisting at special events
- delivering council packets
- assisting in the Records Bureau
- being available for emergency call-outs when required.
Requirements - A Fairborn Citizen's Patrol member must:
- be 21 years of age, unless waived by the Chief
- possess a valid Ohio Driver's License
- possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- must be a graduate of the Fairborn Citizen's Police Academy and attend additional training related to the F.C.P. upon appointment
- pass a background check administered by the Fairborn Police Department
- be a resident of the City of Fairborn.
