Dan Kirkpatrick

Dan Kirkpatrick was sworn in as Mayor of Fairborn on December 3, 2013, and re-elected for a second two-year term in December 2015. Prior to serving as Mayor, he was a City Councilman for four years. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Dan had lived across the United States as a child and as an adult while serving in the Air Force, choosing to retire in 2007 in Fairborn. Throughout his thirty-four years in the Air Force Dan had the opportunity to live in California, Ohio, Texas, Maryland, Florida, Colorado and Japan. He always came back to Ohio, serving three tours of duty at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and living in Fairborn for each of those tours for a total of nine years.

In 1975, Dan Graduated with an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Riverside City College in Riverside, California. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas in 1987, and a double Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, in Arlington, Texas in 1993. Dan is certified in Nursing Administration from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Active in the community throughout his adult life, Dan is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at the Fairborn Senior Citizen's Center and he is also the Past President of the Ohio Nurses Association. Dan has been Involved in the Boy Scouts of America for his entire adult life, serving in the past as an Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Venture Crew Leader, Cub Scout Pack Committee Chairman, and is currently the President of the Tecumseh Council. He is also involved in several Church-related activities including several committees and the Men's Group and is the current President of the Fairborn Christmas in Action program providing home repairs for low-income senior citizens.

In the Fairborn school district, Dan is a member of the Advisory Board for the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program. After Dan retired from the Air Force in 2007, he taught mental health nursing and disaster preparedness courses for the National Center for Medical Readiness at Wright State University.

Dan is married to Norma, his bride of 35 years, and has three children and six grandchildren.
