Youth Police Academy

In the summer of 2007, the Fairborn Police Department held its second Summer Youth Police Academy.  This week-long academy, open to 6th - 8th grade graduates, hosted nealy 20 Fairborn students who wish to pursue careers in law enforcement.  Topics discussed included CSI, search and seizure, traffic crash investigations, use of force issues, and firearms safety and physical fitness. 

Also, in 2007 the Fairborn Police Department extended with its Summer Youth Police Academy program by adding an Advanced Summer Youth Police Academy for the students who graduated from the academy in 2006.  This academy covered such hands-on topics as plaster casting, building searches and surveillance.  Tours of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigatons were also included in the course.
